It is crucial to inspect the outcome after each decontamination step (as outlined above) – dry cleaning, wet cleaning, sanitation and vector control. Therefore, a visual inspection by the farm manager/ supervisor must be conducted and signed off as satisfactory after every step. Furthermore, visual inspection after dry cleaning is essential before progressing to wet cleaning to achieve effective decontamination. Sanitiser efficacy is reduced in the presence of organic matter. An inspection checklist after each stage of decontamination is included in Appendix 3. If the inspector uncovers issues, take photographs of the defect. This enables the responder to demonstrate with subsequent photos that the issue has been addressed.
